He tells us: "If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other also." This is not an invitation to passivity or to accept injustice, but rather to a radical change of mentality. My dear friends, this teaching of Jesus is certainly demanding, but it is also liberating. By choosing love over revenge, we free ourselves from the prison of hatred and open the door to reconciliation and healing. By loving our enemies, we become instruments of peace and participate in building a better world. Let us ask the Lord to grant us the grace to put this difficult teaching into practice. Let us pray for the strength to love our enemies, to pray for those who persecute us, and to respond to evil with good. May God's love transform our hearts and help us become living witnesses of His love in the world. Amen. 🔸 Word and Gospel of the Day is a series of daily meditations to help us grow in faith and knowledge of God. Each day, a priest exhorts us; today we are with Father César Augusto, Carmelite Friars, Messengers of the Holy Spirit, and Vicar of the parish of Monteux, who helps us meditate on the following Word: Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “You have heard that it was said: An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. But I tell you, do not retaliate against an evil person; but if someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to them the other also.” And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, leave them your cloak as well. And if someone demands that you go a thousand paces, go two thousand with them. Give to anyone who asks you; do not turn your back on anyone who wants to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may truly be children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what are you doing more than others? "Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect." Let us acclaim the Word of God. #Wordoftheday #Homily #Gospeloftheday
