On that day the bowels of My Mercy are open, I will pour out a whole sea of ​​graces on the souls who are approaching the source of My Mercy. The soul that approaches confession and Holy Communion receives total forgiveness of sins and penalties. On that day all the channels through which divine graces flow are open (Diary number 699). In multiple apparitions, the Lord Jesus defined not only the placement of the Feast in the liturgical calendar of the Church, but also the reason and purpose of its institution, the methods of preparation and celebration and the great promises associated with it. The greatest is the grace of "total forgiveness of sins and pains" linked to approaching Holy Communion on that day after a good confession (without any connection with the smallest sin), in the spirit of the devotion of Divine Mercy that is, with an attitude of trust towards God and active love of neighbor. This grace is a greater grace than a plenary indulgence. This consists in the cancellation of the earthly punishments due to the sins committed, but it is never the remission of the same sins. Extraordinary grace is substantially the greatest of the graces of the six sacraments with the exception of the Sacrament of Baptism: inasmuch as the remission of all sins and penalties is the sacramental grace of Holy Baptism. As for the promises cited, Christ linked the total remission of pains and sins with the approach to Holy Communion received on the day of the Feast of Mercy and elevated it to the rank of "second baptism". The preparation for this Feast consists in the novena, that is, in the recitation, for nine days, of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy starting from Good Friday.
