#Zootopia2 (2025): 7/10 Directors: Jared Bush, Byron Howard Runtime: 108mins ⠀ Disney’s Zootopia 2 (Zootropolis in Europe) sees a return to the animated world almost 10 years since its predecessor. Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde’s (Jason Bateman) partnership at the Zootopia Police Department is beginning to grate on supervisor Chief Bogo (Idris Elba). Once again though, they find themselves on the trail of a new case to be solved, this time involving a mysterious reptile. ⠀ It was perhaps inevitable that a sequel would happen at some point given its billion-dollar success, but somewhat surprising that it has taken this long. The animal city is still as vibrant as ever and wonderfully rich in its animation detail. Due to the change in character dynamics following the conclusion of ‘Zootopia’ though, its story doesn’t quite hit the same satisfying heights. ⠀ Ke Huy Quan’s pit viper Gary is an endearing addition to the franchise, but the convoluted conspiracies and backstories feel more laboured this time around, despite adding a new perspective to Zootopia’s history. The plot ticks along nicely though and the thrill of the adventure still exists, even if it doesn’t compare to the excellent first outing. ⠀ What did you think of Zootopia (Zootropolis) 2?
