The Tragic Story of Medusa | Greek Mythology Explained

In Greek Mythology, Medusa was such a beautiful woman that she was a mortal, envied by the goddesses and pursued by the gods. Fulfilling the requirements of being a virgin and a pure soul, Medusa dedicated herself to the goddess Athena as her priestess. One day, Poseidon, the God of the Seas and Athena's rival, saw Medusa and was mesmerized. However, Medusa, who is loyal to Athena, rejects Poseidon. Poseidon makes a plan to take revenge on Athena and r*pes Medusa in Athena's temple. Medusa prays to Athena for guidance and forgiveness. However, Athena punishes Medusa for betraying her and breaking her oath with a curse that will turn anyone who looks at her into stone. Later, Athena, not satisfied with her punishment, decides to kill Medusa and collaborates with Zeus' son Perseus. Not realizing that death is approaching her, Medusa's head is separated from her body by Perseus' sword. The blood flowing from Medusa's head mixes with the foam of the sea and Pegasus is born. #mythology #medusa #greekmythology #athena #poseidon #perseus #pegasus
