Pope Explains the Immaculate Conception 😇 Virgin Mary 🌹🙏🏻

Pope Leo XIV explained why God granted the Virgin Mary extraordinary graces and the profound joy that comes from the fact that the Heavenly Father willed her to be “entirely free from the stain of original sin.” He did so while celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception for the first time during his pontificate. “The Lord granted Mary the extraordinary grace of a completely pure heart, in view of an even greater miracle: the coming into the world, as man, of Christ the Savior,” the Holy Father said. He explains that the Virgin Mary knew it, “with the wonder of the humble, through the angel’s greeting: ‘Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you,’ and with faith she responded with her ‘yes’: ‘I am the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.’” In his moving explanation, the Pope echoes the words of Saint Augustine, noting that “the gift of the fullness of grace, in the young woman of Nazareth, was able to bear fruit because she, in her freedom, welcomed it, embracing God’s plan.” Finally, he takes a surprising turn, stating that “great is the gift of the Immaculate Conception, but so too is the gift of Baptism that we have received.” Indeed, Pope Leo says: “Wonderful is the ‘yes’ of the Mother of the Lord, but so too can ours be.” The Pope's words were spoken this Monday, December 8, 2025, from St. Peter's Square, just before the Angelus prayer, and broadcast by Vatican Media, the Vatican's communications service.
