Episode Summary: In a shocking flashback, Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) offers Benjamin Poindexter / Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) a chance at freedom—if he kills Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). In the present, Dex escapes custody just as Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) recovers from his injuries in the hospital. While the city plunges into darkness—literally—after Fisk cuts the power, Murdock uncovers that Vanessa orchestrated Foggy’s murder. Meanwhile, Fisk confronts Vanessa, revealing that he knew her secret all along. Fisk unleashes Cashman (James Mount) to assassinate Murdock, but Matt narrowly escapes, retreating to his apartment—where Frank Castle / The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is waiting. Joined by Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), the trio uncovers Fisk’s plot to transform New York into a private regime. As Murdock and Castle fight off the AVTF, Frank is captured and imprisoned in Red Hook, where Fisk has locked up his enemies. Meanwhile, Fisk crushes Gallo (Tony Curran) for plotting against him and installs Dr. Glenn (Nikki M. James) as the city’s new Mental Health Commissioner. In a chilling speech, Fisk declares martial law and bans all vigilantes, forcing Murdock to prepare for all-out war.
