Spoose and BooBear on our road trip east in March of 2024. While most famous for its cave, Mammoth Cave National Park also the surface of the area which includes rolling hills, deep river valleys, and plenty of hiking and backpacking areas! Turnhole Bend Nature Trail is a 0.5 mile (0.8km) loop with sinkhole erosion topography and views of the Green River. We enjoyed the interesting cave formation and while there is a bit of elevation, it wasn't too difficult. Cedar Sink Trail was a bit longer at 1.5 mile (2.4km) in-and-out along the Smith Valley floor with the most striking view of Cedar Sink which measures about 300 feet (91m) caused by the collapsing of the surface soil.
