It's said that a driver once reported seeing a young woman in a white evening dress standing by the side of the road at night, trying to flag down a passing car. He pulled over to help her. She climbed into the back seat of the car and explained that her name was Lydia, that she’d been to a dance, and was trying to get home. She gave the driver an address not too far away, and he agreed to take her there. When the car arrived at the address, the driver got out to open the door for her — only to discover that she had vanished. Perplexed, the driver went to the house, where an old woman answered. Lydia was her daughter, she explained, who'd died in a car accident by that overpass years previously. Researcher Michael Renegar found that local residents indeed remembered a fatal accident that occurred at the bridge involving a young woman in the 1920s. Her name was not Lydia but Mary: https://www.amazon.com/Looking-Lydia-...
