Neutral Solution: The Solution which does not change the colour of Litmus paper and shows the property of neither acid nor base is called neutral solution. Example: NaCl in water, distilled water. Types of Salts Acidic Salt: A salt which is made by the reaction of strong acid and weak base is called acidic salt. NH4OH+HCl----NH4Cl+H2O Acidic Salt Basic Salt: A salt which is made by the reaction of weak acid and strong base is called Basic salt. NaOH+CH3COOH----CH3COONa+H2O Basic Salt Neutral Salt: A salt which is made by the reaction of strong acid and strong base is called neutral salt. NaOH+HCl------NaCl+H2O Neutral Salt Neutralisation Reaction: The reaction in which acid reacts with base to form salt and water. Acid + Base ⟶ Salt + Water HCl + NaOH ⟶ NaCl + H2O H2SO4 + KOH ⟶ K2SO4 + H2O Note: These reactions are generally exothermic in nature. Due to the combination of H+ and OH- to form water, the solution becomes neutral.
