India Win Inaugural T20 Blind Women's World Cup | ISH News
After the Indian Women’s Cricket Team won the ICC Women’s World Cup, India created history once again on 23rd November 2025 by winning the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind. India defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the final held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The World Cup began on 11 November 2025 and was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. India’s women’s blind cricket programme is still developing. The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), which manages blind cricket at the national level, was formed in 2011. Scouting for a women’s team started in 2019, and their first international match took place in 2023. Throughout the tournament, India remained undefeated and showed remarkable consistency. In their first match, they bowled out Sri Lanka for just 41 and chased the target within three overs, supported by sharp fielding that resulted in seven run-outs. They continued their dominance against Australia, Pakistan, and in the semifinals, where they defeated Australia again by nine wickets. In the final, India won the toss and chose to field. Their disciplined bowling restricted Nepal to 114 for five in 20 overs. The Indian batters then chased confidently, reaching 100 runs in just 10 overs. Opener Phula Saren led the chase with an impressive 44 off 27 balls, including four boundaries. She also bowled three overs for 20 runs, earning the Player of the Match award. This victory marks a major breakthrough for women’s blind cricket. CABI chairperson Mahantesh GK shared that many challenges were faced in creating this tournament, but the support now received gives hope for an even brighter future.
